Administrative Fairness
Ombud NB reviews complaints and systemic issues involving the provincial public sector. Our primary role is to ensure fair processes, services and decisions, and that rights are respected.
Information and Privacy
Ombud NB reviews complaints from individuals who are not satisfied with how their right to information request was handled, or if they think their privacy was breached in the handling of their personal information. We also review other types of requests made by public sector organizations or custodians of health information, as well as requests for public records in the Provincial Archives.
Wrongdoing
Ombud NB investigates disclosures from current employees of the public service involving significant and serious matters that are potentially unlawful, dangerous to the public or injurious to the public interest.
Favouritism
Ombud NB reviews allegations of favouritism raised by unsuccessful candidates in civil service hiring.
